About Eurospotting

Electricity prices across Europe can change quickly, differ sharply between neighboring bidding zones and reflect a complex mix of demand, generation, interconnection, weather and market conditions. Eurospotting is built to make those signals easier to inspect in context. Instead of presenting price data only as a static table, the product places market areas on a map and connects the geographic view with a time-based profile for the selected zone.

The goal is not to replace official market platforms, trading systems or operational data services. Eurospotting is intended as an independent analytical interface: a cleaner way to inspect, compare and reason about European electricity market data while keeping the limits of the source data visible.

The current release focuses on day-ahead electricity prices by bidding zone. Where available, Eurospotting preserves the values reported for each market area, including the original currency, unit and time resolution. For map-based comparison, the application may also calculate comparable EUR/MWh values so that zones reported under different source conditions can be viewed on a common scale.

The map, chart and selected-zone detail are designed to work together. The map shows the spatial pattern, the daily profile shows the interval structure of the price series, and the detail panel keeps the source context visible. When source data is missing or partial, Eurospotting leaves that state visible rather than inventing prices to fill the gap.

Eurospotting is an independent product. It is not an official service of ENTSO-E, any transmission system operator, power exchange, NEMO, regulator or market operator. Data rights remain with the respective data providers, and official sources should always be consulted for operational, trading, legal or procurement decisions.
